WARNING:
The following post contains lots of stuff that excited geeks - please feel free not to read it !!!
OK -Further to my previous post about installing Windows XP on a virtual machine in Ubuntu (lunux) Just finished watching the last episode of Top Gear season 10 that i downloaded and watched using the cool new BBC i-Player in a Virtual machine running under Ubuntu !!
Well i think it was cool ...
Why not just watch it in windows? - well it was a 600mb file that took around 30 mins to download - this way i could continue to work/play with ubuntu !!

Happy Christmas !!
Ok so its a bit late
But since when have i done things on time !!
Its been a fun Christmas so far. Amy has really been enjoying it! Some of my highlights so far:
Well its not really - but i am currently playing with Linux - Ubuntu. Its very exciting - not as easy as i was expecting but i am enjoying fiddling with it to make it do what i want !! As I type this I am currently experimenting with "Virtual Machines" ..... Basically I am simulating a computer on my computer - eh why i hear you say (if you havnt already tuned out by now !!) Well I am currently installing Windows XP on one of these virtual machines - so i can run it in a window in linux - all very cool !! Well I think it is
New House:
Well its still really not getting very far - I have been a bit rubbish in getting stuff done - its been a mad time in work (it is always..) and by the time i am home its just seams like too much effort to get stuff done. We are hoping to get some more stuff done over whats left of Christmas
Anyway - time to go - XP is installed - lets see what this baby can do !!
But since when have i done things on time !!
Its been a fun Christmas so far. Amy has really been enjoying it! Some of my highlights so far:
- Amy saying "more toys" every time she wanted to open a new present
- In church on Christmas day we sat next to Paul Feesey and Amy handed him her "macapaca " doll and said "MA" then she handed him her "Upsy Daisy" doll and said "Jesus"....
- I cooked Christmas dinner for the 1st time and it was good !! wasn't expecting it to be !!
- My computer is working again !! Got the bits to make it work for Christmas

New House, New Phone ...
Thought it would be a good idea to blog again - keep meaning to write more often but just don't get around to it - kinda the story of my life ...
New House:
Things very chaotic at the moment! Shortly after my last post we managed to have an offer on our new house accepted - very cool. We were told it would all happen very quickly - but we didn't get keys until my birthday ....
We are now at the very exciting and stressful stage of doing all the works on the house before we move in. new bathroom, new kitchen and redecorate 2 out of the 3 bedrooms - the other spaces will have to wait until we move in - something we want to do ASAP.
Its all very exciting - but very stressful as trying to balance this with "normal" life pressures of keeping a home clean tidy / having food to eat etc - combined with a very very busy time for me at work means things are going to be very difficult over the next few weeks.
New Phone:
I am still enjoying my great new phone ( Orange SPV M700) its very cool - and best of all free !! Its been a while since i got a new gadget but i am very happy with this one - keep discovering new cool things i can do with it. - I am sure that this enthusiasm will wear off soon - something Em will not doubt be very happy with !!
Will stop here - lots to do here and should really get on with them - students back on monday - let the carnage commence !!

Cool Random Picture
This is a random picture that i took during a storm over our house a while back - just uploaded it here as we are (still) having problems with Blogger and Picasa and was using it as a test as we tried to get Amy's blog up and running again - still no luck....

Hi Honey I'm Home ......
Well it would appear that i was not as good i had originally planned to be at updating this blog of mine !!
I will be attempting to do it a bit more often this year - kinda a new years resolution - not calling it that though as the way my brain works it just makes me want to not do it - i have an odd brain ... !!
Anyway check out Amy's blog for what's been happening since i fell asleep
what's happening now ... erm
1 - we just missed out on buying a new house - bit frustrating but probably good in the long term it needed a LOT of work and even though i had all the best intentions in the world to do it - chances are i would not have managed it - lots of stress avoided there then !!
2 - linerider - very very very adictive and cool game - there are some people who think that one day it will be as well know and played as tetris/ minesweeper - time will tell - it is very cool though
3 - Amy - wonderful as ever - was hard to go back to work after spending Christmas at home with her and Em for a week - was great to have that time together - but she is now getting up in the morning looking round for me - i am already in work by the time she gets up ....
4 - firefox - a little dull - but when writing this post i have just remember the coolness of one of its features - its a little obvious but - built in spell checker !! very useful for me and i do wonder how we nearly managed to get to the end of 2006 without a built in spell checker in our web browsers as standard!!
anyway hopefully more posts here soon !!
